Grants to USA and territories authorized disaster response agencies to prepare for and respond to natural disasters affecting animals. Funds may be requested to help agencies respond to recent natural disasters as well as for capacity building and preparedness. Priority will be given to authorized disaster response agencies impacted by, responding to, or planning to respond to Hurricane Ida, other recent hurricanes or tropical storms, or recent wildfires.

The ASPCA is inviting proposals for funding from authorized disaster response agencies providing direct support to companion animals, equines, and their owners in communities currently or recently impacted by or at high risk for catastrophic natural disasters.

You may request funding to cover expenses incurred or pending in a current or recent disaster occurring on or after April 1, 2021. Funding is also available for capacity-building and preparedness for future natural disasters. Priorities for funding include costs related to animal rescue, sheltering, food, and veterinary care incurred by the applicant.

All proposals must designate at least 20% of requested funding for capacity-building and preparedness for future disasters. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Training
  • Emergency shelter and veterinary equipment and supplies necessary for temporary sheltering
  • Field rescue gear and supplies
  • Animal transport equipment and supplies, including vehicles for local evacuation

Requests for funding that are designated entirely for capacity-building and preparedness will also be accepted from authorized disaster response agencies not impacted by or not needing support for current or recent disasters.
