Grants to Alaska nonprofit health and social service organizations in eligible locations to offset the costs of water and sewer utilities. Funding, in the form of payment waivers, is intended to assist organizations that offer transitional overnight accommodations and that can demonstrate that they have done so for at least one year. Eligible applicants are located in Juneau. Waivers will be credited to CBJ water and sewer accounts dedicated to overnight facilities for client services.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
CBJ Utility Waivers are available for Juneau-based health and social service nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that provide transitional overnight accommodations. Organizations applying for this funding must have provided such accommodation for at least one year to be eligible for these funds.
Ineligible
Utility Waiver funds cannot be used for capital projects.
Pre-Application Information
Applications are due March 3, 2023, by 6:00 p.m. Applications are needed for all CBJ Utility Waiver requests.
The completed grant application must include CBJ Sewer and Water billing and payment history for the last 12 months.

Estimated Size of Grant
A maximum waiver of $10,000 for any one CBJ utility account. Amounts in excess of $10,000 may be considered on an individual basis if funds are available.
Term of Contract
Grants are determined each year before the end of April, however, funding is not available until after July 15. Grant funds can be expended until June 30 of the following year (2024).
